University of Syiah Kuala along with four other universities in Indonesia won the Appreciation Award of Upper Education Program of Higher Education from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti). This award was submitted at Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, DKI Jakarta, Tuesday (12/5) received directly by Prof. Marwan as the Chairman of the Institute for Development of Quality Assurance (LP3M) Unsyiah. Besides Unsyiah, awards are also given to University of Atmadjaya, University of Brawijaya, Indonesian Islamic University, and Mercu Buana University.
Unsyiah is considered to have contributed greatly through the Upper Education Program of Higher Education to support the improvement of the quality of private universities. This assessment is seen from Unsyiah's efforts to help increase the value of accreditation of institutions and courses on private universities being fostered.
Chairman of Center for Quality Management System Development LP3M Unsyiah, Dr. Ir. M. Aman Yaman, M.Agric.Sc., Said that the award is inseparable from the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) that Unsyiah has applied and developed so far. The current system is structured and sustainable with the strengthening of four main pillars: leadership commitment, organizational strengthening and human resources, strengthening policies and quality standards, and strengthening quality and funding programs.
"This system has become a model for improving the quality of universities and able to increase accreditation," Aman said.
In the Upper Educational Program in 2017, Unsyiah fostered 30 courses at the University of Jabal Ghafur and University of Serambi Mekkah. Safe hope with this success, Unsyiah increasingly trusted Kemenristekdikti to build private universities in improving the quality of education.
