Unsyiah Students Exhibit Aceh Culture In Korea

Delegation of Syiah Kuala University comprising Head and Vice of International Affairs Office, Dr. Muzailin Affan, M.Sc, and Dr. Miftahuddin, three of International Affairs Office staff, sixteen members of Dharma Wanita Unsyiah, and five students of Sendratasik majors visited South Korea on October 23-27 2017. This was Unsyiah's response for the Nation University, Jeju, South Korea (UofN) that have been visit Unsyiah on May 2, 2016 ago. The visit is aimed at organizing International Food Festival (IFF) activities at UofN and conducting academic visits to various universities in Korea.

The IFF event was held on October 24, 2017. This event presents various types of Acehnese food and beverages such as Aceh noodles, kanji rumbi, haluwa cake, bhoi cake, and Aceh specialty coffee. On the occasion also displayed a demonstration of coffee making by manual brewing method. The visitors are also spoiled with photo booths that provide traditional Acehnese clothes.

Korean people are very interested and enthusiastic about the culinary and cultural diversity of Aceh. In addition, the event was also enlivened with a variety of Aceh dances, such as Guel dance, Mak Inang Kampai Island, and dance creations Meugrob-grob. This dance is performed by students of Syiah Kuala University.

In addition to UofN, the Syiah Kuala University delegation also had the opportunity to visit several universities in South Korea, such as Jeju National University, Induk University, and Hanyang University. During the activity, the delegation was accompanied by Ms. Lee Jung Hee, staff from UofN, Jeju, South Korea.
