Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations, Dr. Hizir opened the Open Taekwondo Syiah Kuala University in 2019. The taekwondo championship took place at the Unsyiah Student Center, Darussalam, Banda Aceh, Saturday and Sunday on October 19-20, 2019.

In his remarks, Hizir appreciated this sports championship as a forum for channeling creativity, while presenting a healthy life. Even more so at this time, many people, especially young people, have fallen into unhealthy lifestyles. One reason is because of the lack of containers that accommodate the potential for sports for the community.

"Concern is needed to form a place that holds that potential, in order to create a healthy life," said Hizir.

Meanwhile, mentor of Taekwondo UKM, Prof. Dr. Muchlisin Z.A, S.Pi., said that the tournament had the theme, "Overcoming Limitations, Upholding Sportsmanship". This activity matches two categories, namely Kyorugi and Poomase. Also followed by 389 participants from 25 different dojangs. Various dojang from North Sumatra Province also helped enliven this championship.

"We hope this championship can ignite the enthusiasm of the community to continue to develop their potential, despite being hampered by various limitations," he concluded. (Unsyiah / fer)
