Teuku Reza Ferasyi Chosen as Dean of FKH Unsyiah

Teuku Reza Ferasyi was elected to be dean of the Faculty of Veterinary at Syiah Kuala University (FKH Unsyiah) for the period 2020-2024. Interestingly, the dean election was conducted in an online senate meeting via video conference on Thursday (4/16/2020).

Unsyiah Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng.IPU said that the selection of online deans was the first time that Unsyiah had done it. This is part of the application of physical distancing to anticipate the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19), especially in the campus environment. The election participants are in different locations connected to video conferencing via the Zoom.us application.

"In this limited condition, Unsyiah as much as possible utilizes technology so that the entire task and academic process will continue to run smoothly," said Prof. Samsul.

He said according to the circular issued, Unsyiah limited the activities of gathering more than ten people. Therefore, dean selection is conducted online and Unsyiah will also continue to develop an online lecture system to reduce the spread of the Covid-19.

In this election, there were two candidates brought, namely drh. Teuku Reza Ferasyi, M.Sc., Ph.D and Prof. Dr. drh. Tongku Nizwan Siregar, M.P. The election was led by the Chair of the FKH Senate, Dr. drh. M. Nur Salim, M.P, which went smoothly and was faster than the specified schedule. Initially, the election was targeted to last for two hours, but in the course of the election only lasted for one hour. This is because the FKH senate agreed unanimously to acclaim Teuku Reza Ferasyi as the elected dean.

Meanwhile, Teuku Reza thanked the trust given to him. It is hoped that the selection process, which will run smoothly, peacefully and coolly, will be a momentum to build FKH. He also promised that he would continue to improve the human resources and expertise of lecturers according to the field of science they were in. Moreover, in the condition of the Covid-19 pandemic which requires hard work and mutual attention to solve it.

He also thanked the previous dean, Dr. drh. Muhammad Hambal who has built the FKH campus is one of the most favorite and best in Unsyiah.

"With the better condition of our faculties, it becomes an encouragement for the academicians to contribute even more optimally," concluded Reza.
