Syiah Kuala University has regained “A’ accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). This is based on BAN-PT Decree No. 490 / SK / BAN-PT / Ak-PP / PT / VII / 2020 which states that Unsyiah has been accredited A again from July 11, 2020 - July 11, 2025. (Banda Aceh, 07/16/2020).
Unsyiah Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng said that he was very grateful for Unsyiah's success in maintain "A" accreditation for the second time. This achievement is the outcome from the spirit of honesty, sincerity and togetherness that has become the identity of all Unsyiah academics so far.
"Alhamdulillah, this success is a form of our commitment to developing this institution. So this is not only the pride of Unsyiah as an institution, but also the pride of the Acehnese people who continue to support this tertiary institution, "the Rector said.
According to rector, this accreditation achievement has important meaning for Unsyiah. Because this shows that Unsyiah has met the quality criteria set by BAN-PT.
There are at least four dimensions of assessment determined by BAN-PT, namely the quality of integrity in the vision and mission, leadership, governance, resource management systems, strategic partnerships and internal quality assurance systems. Then the quality of output and outcomes, which include the quality of graduates, scientific products, innovation, and benefits for the community. Then the quality of the process which includes the learning process, research, community service and academic atmosphere. And the quality of inputs including lecturer resources, education personnel, curriculum, infrastructure and finance.
"All the quality standards set were successfully fulfilled. This is important for Unsyiah, to provide guarantees for the community of the quality of education in this campus, "said the Rector.
In addition, currently five study programs at the Unsyiah Faculty of Engineering have also achieved international accreditation, issued by the Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE). The five study programs are Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Geophysical Engineering. These five study programs succeeded in getting the Provisionally Accredited criteria.
Unsyiah for the first time achieved accreditation A in 2016. At that time Unsyiah was able to make a significant accreditation leap, from C to A. The success finally made Kemenristekdikti to choose Unsyiah, as a reference for any tertiary institution in Indonesia who wanted to study accreditation.
"Since then, many universities have come to Unsyiah. Unsyiah also openly shared information and strategies. Because we want to work together to build education in Indonesia, "concluded the Rector.
