Unsyiah and Pidie Jaya Regional Government Cooperation in Increasing Spatial Data

15.04.2019 Humas

The Regional Government (Pemda) of Pidie Jaya cooperates with Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) in order to increase the capacity of the Pidie Jaya Regency Government apparatus in the field of spatial data. This collaboration is realized through a basic level Geographic Information System (GIS) training by the Development Research and Development Evaluation (P2EP), Pidie Jaya Bappeda and the Unsyiah Spatial Data Infrastructure Development Research Center (PR-PIDS), 8-12 April 2019 in the GIS Laboratory second floor of Bappeda, Pidie Jaya.

Head of P2EP Fajri, S.Pi representing the Head of Bappeda Pidie Jaya Bahron Bakti, ST. MT. Confirms the importance of spatial data (GIS) in the field of development planning and supervision, among others for the preparation of the RTRW (Regional Spatial Plan) document, RDTR (Spatial Detail Plan), and other planning.

He added that currently, P2EP Bappeda Pidie Jaya has developed a GIS-based non-habitable house mapping application. It is expected that all SKPDs can develop GIS applications in their respective SKPDs that are linked to the Pidie Jaya Regency Regional Geospatial Information Network (SJIGD) node. The training is also part of the PR-PIDS assignment to provide GIS services and training, as well as manage, socialize, disseminate, support Aceh and National Geospatial Information, the National Geospatial Information Network (JIGN) node, and the National INA Geoportal.

Meanwhile, PR-PIDS Unsyiah sent training instructor Dr. Dahlan, S.Hut., M.Sc, biology lecturer at FMIPA Unsyiah who is also an expert in developing the Aceh Geospatial Data Center. In addition, there was also an instructor Helmi, S.Si., MP.

Since 2007, Dr. Dahlan provides training related to spatial data both remote sensing (Orthorectification and classification processes) and GIS in various regions. This five-day training is emphasized in practice and also presented theories to support practice. Training material includes the concept of GIS, introduction of GIS software, geometry correction (rectification), creating vector data (points, lines and polygons), vector data editing, joining tables, search (find and query) processes using toolbox (geoprocessing), arranging data display and map layout.

Unsyiah's Spatial Data Infrastructure Development Research Center (PR-PIDS) is chaired by Dr. Nizamuddin, M.Info.Sc. This research center is part of the Cibinong Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), Bogor and is the result of the collaboration between BIG and Unsyiah since 2011. At present, with the support of Unsyiah's Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M. Eng., PR-PIDS is under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M), Unsyiah. (PR Unsyiah / fer)
