Again, Syiah Kuala University received a number of Reagent assistance and laboratory equipment for the qPCR Covid-19 swab examination from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). The assistance was received directly by the Operational Manager of the Infectious Disease Laboratory, Dr. Unsyiah. Ichsan, M.Sc at the Unsyiah Medical Faculty. (9/7/ 2020).
Dr. Ichsan said that this assistance was provided through the Director of Network Optimization for Logistics and Equipment of BNPB, Ibnu Asur. This is based on the Minutes of Handover with Number BA / BNPB / OJLP / LP.01.02 / 09/2020 which he received.
This assistance, said Dr. Ichsan, is a form of BNPB's support for Unsyiah in handling the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in Aceh. Ichsan also explained that this assistance would be used for free examinations for referral patients from the hospital who were included in the category of suspected patients (moderate symptoms) and probable patients (severe symptoms) for free. Meanwhile, for self-examination, the reagent used was the reagent purchased by Unsyiah.
"For Consumables, until now we are still buying our own and are also used to help the community as Unsyiah's contribution in the efforts to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak," he said.
The details of the medical assistance are Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) in the form of Solgent-Ubitron (DSP) worth Rp. 790,400,000 for 3,800 tests and PCR Seegen (Donation) worth Rp. 72,540,000 for 1,200 tests. Then, the RNA in the form of Wizchamp-Ubitron worth Rp. 210,000,000 for 5000 tests, and VTM in the form of Genesis-Wisesa for 5000 tests.
"If added up, the aid is worth Rp. 1,272,940,000. Alhmadulillah, we have received everything so that we can immediately use the rapid detection of Covid-19 at Unsyiah Lab, "said Dr. Ichsan.
Unsyiah Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng said that he felt very grateful for a number of medical equipment assistance provided by BNPB to Unsyiah. This kind of support is certainly very meaningful for Unsyiah's lab, which has played an important role as one of the Covid-19 swab specimen testing labs in Aceh.
"Alhamdulillah, with this assistance we can do more swab tests, so that we can do a mapping to find out the spread of the Covid-19 virus," said the rector.
In addition, the rector also highly appreciated BNPB's quick response in its efforts to support the handling of Covid-19 in Aceh. Because previously, BNPB also provided a number of Reagent Laboratory assistance for Covid-19 checks to Unsyiah worth Rp. 1.58 billion on 10 August 2020.
"The assistance was given only three days after we sent the application letter. So I think in dealing with an outbreak like this, such a quick response is very important, "said the rector.
In addition, Dr. Ichsan revealed, today (Friday, 18 September 2020) Unsyiah also received assistance from a Real-Time PCR System machine with 48 Wells from BNPB. With this assistance, the Unsyiah Lab is able to test as many as 520 samples in a day, so that the Unsyiah lab can be more optimal in helping the community.
