The University of Syiah Kuala (USK) won first place among universities in Aceh on the Students Creativity Program (PKM) of 5 sectors funding 2021. In the national level, USK was ranked in the top 30 for the fund winner. This was according to the PKM 2021 announcement issued by the Directorate General of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia on the Simbelmawa website. Banda Aceh, 7 May 2021.
USK managed to place on top with 45 PKM to be funded. Following this, The University of Teuku Umar (UTU) would receive funding for their 9 PKM, Al Muslim University with 4 PKM, and University of Malikussaleh with 2 PKM.
The total funding that would be received for the 45 PKM is about Rp 389.133.000,-. These PKM were proposed by USK students from various faculties.
Vice Rector III Dr. Alfiansyah Yulianur BC expressed that he was proud of the students’ achievement in this prestigious creativity competition.
He also mentioned that USK submitted 477 proposals of various interesting products.
“Alhamdulillah, from the 477 proposals we managed to get funding for 45 PKM. This is an excellent achievement. This also means that the products that our students proposed were interesting for the judges.”, Alfiansyah explained.
At the same time, Alfiansyah said that the students’ achievements in this year’s PKM had improved compared to the previous years. In 2020, only 4 proposals were accepted to be funded from USK. This result was also due to the Covid-19 pandemic impact where there were alterations to the guidance for the project.
Nevertheless, two of the accepted proposals from last year’s projects made out to the Students’ National Science Week (PIMNAS) and one proposal was acknowledged as the most favourite. These achievements were indeed encouraging despite of the situation.
Therefore, the Head of Student Reasoning and Creativity Program (P2KM) of USK Dr. Ir. Marwan, S.SI., MT., IPM mentioned that USK would fully support their students to make new innovations and compete in various programs.
So far, all PKM USK activities were under the coordination of P2KM and had managed to create excellent products from students’ creative works.
“That is why USK would keep giving their full support for the students to do innovations and make creations so that they could do more for the society.”, Marwan said.
