Ustaz Abdul Somad: Unsyiah Is A Campus That Glorifies Scholars

Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) presents Ustaz Abdul Somad, Lc., M.A., or familiarly called UAS, Tuesday morning (7/3), at Tugu Darussalam Square, Banda Aceh. The presence of UAS is in order to establish togetherness between Unsyiah big family. The event, which is packed with the headline "Through the Gathering We Improve Student's Nationality" was attended by thousands of participants.

Rector of Unsyiah, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M. Eng., In his speech fully appreciated the presence of Ustaz Abdul Somad to Unsyiah.

"This togetherness as a form of our piety to Allah SWT. We must build this nation with sincerity, honesty, and togetherness, "he explained.

In his speech, UAS helped straighten the name of Syiah Kuala University. Because during this time, some parties often associate Unsyiah with certain flow. In fact, according to him, Unsyiah taken from the big name of Sheikh Abdurrauf As-Singkili. He is a prominent cleric in the time of the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam.

"Unsyiah is not a religious school, not a boarding school, but a public school. We need to be proud of Unsyiah using the name of prominent scholars. Although this institution is not an Islamic institution, but the teachings of Islam are always attached, "he said.

UAS also mentions the proof, such as Muslim students of Unsyiah who are required to take Islamic Religious Education courses and learn to read the Qur'an for one semester. In addition, he also mentioned the separation of male female visitors during the event.

"Today we can see the sitting position of men and women separated.This is a proof that the teachings of Islam upheld by the academic community Unsyiah."

UAS also advised that the spirit of Unsyiah in presenting Islamic values ​​can be imprinted in the young people of Aceh. So that later Aceh will become a model in the application of Islamic law in a democratic country. Moreover, Unsyiah is the heart of the Acehnese people.

In addition, he also hopes that Unsyiah students can prepare themselves to become leaders of the future. At the same time fighting for the upholding of Islam accompanied by courage to engage in the world of Islamic economic entrepreneurship.
