Participation of the National Disaster Management Agency of Indonesia with TDMRC
Five delegates from Senegal visited Unsyiah on December 12, 2014, to learn from Aceh experience in disaster mitigation with the focus on flood mitigation. This visit is part of the Reverse Linkage Project between the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of Senegal in Disaster Management (Flood Mitigation) facilitated by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), in the framework of South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC). The visit was organized by Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation and Research Center (TDMRC) of Unsyiah. The study visit of the Senegalese Counterparts to Indonesia is aimed at familiarizing and reaffirming the three pillars of intervention proposed by TDMRC for flood mitigation in Senegal. The delegation also traveled to Jakarta to consult with the National Disaster Management Agency of Indonesia (BNPB) and to look at its training facilities in Sentul, to visit Jakarta Governor Office and some flood mitigation infrastructures around Jakarta. As a reverse mission and based on its experience, TDMRC will, with the support from IDB, send experts and participate in a validation mission to Senegal from 24-31 January 2015.
